THE RADIANT REFINEMENT OF BRASS A triumphant harmony of delicacy and inherent strength...this is your essence. Dating from the 8th century B.C., the earliest known brass artifacts came from the excavation at the Gordion Tomb in what is now modern day Turkey. This vastly diverse alloy’s properties have been harnessed for use in nearly every facet of innovation, from tools to musical instruments to divine adornment. In antiquity, polished brass was used, in its likeness, as a mirror; Romans fashioned brass into coins. Pythagoras, the Greek philosopher, mathematician, and mystic, believed that brass had oracular powers, claiming that while everything around him stood perfectly still, there continued to be a palpable vibration in bowls and vessels made of this luminous metal.
